This was another film shot on a clockwork 16mm Bolex. I was asked to make a film using a track by an electronic band called Sand. The music was breathless and percussive. I decided to use as the main material the Lewes Bonfire Night festivities in November. The film is made up of tiny segments of film which nowadays you would edit easily with computer software. Back then I did it on a Steenbeck and it was a painstaking assembly of fiddly sections of film.. Its a collage, other elements come into it. Also I used Lewes and its fiery antics in Metamorphosis. I don't see anything wrong in revisiting favourite locations and atmospheres, painters don't think twice of doing several versions of a particular landscape. Ditto, making different versions of the film, something you can do much easier with Digital film-making.
